about Michael Voris
Michael Voris is the founder of St Michael's Media, the increasingly popular online TV network that has received over 20,000,000 views since it was established in 2006. Michael's engaging, humorous yet pull-no-punches delivery has been well received by Catholics of all ages. From small beginnings eight years ago, Michael has to date produced many hundreds of hours of short and full length programmes which cover every aspect of Catholic life: from Church History, The Lives of the Saints, and catechesis in The Majesty of the Faith; examining current issues in Faith Based Investigations, and The Vortex; and personal faith decisions in Losing My Religion and Moral Compass. Just to name a few. Michael's background Michael graduated with a degree in Communications from Notre Dame University in 1983, and began work for CBS in New York. In 1986 he entered New York's St. Joseph's Seminary and stayed until 1988. On leaving the seminary he returned to the world of television and, for the next decade or so, worked as a Fox News producer and reporter in Detroit. During that time he won four Emmy awards in Broadcast News Production. Michael set up his own independent television production company in 1997. Whether as award-winning anchorman, newsreader, producer, director or CEO, Michael Voris has been involved, over the last thirty years, in every aspect of television production. The beginnings of his Catholic apostolate Michael, by his own admission, was 'a lukewarm Catholic'. But the death of his brother in 2003 and then his mother in 2004 forced him to re-evaluate his life. In 2003 Michael began speaking at various parishes throughout Detroit and from 2004 - 2006 he was regularly hosting programmes broadcast on Michigan Catholic Radio. When The Da Vinci Code was published in 2006, Michael decided to make a one-hour programme to refute the book's negative impression of the Church. Realising that just one hour would have little impact, Michael withdrew his savings and founded St. Michael's Media. That same year he began hosting The One True Faith and in 2008 he partnered with RealCatholicTV to produce programmes on Catholic theology and history. In this episode of The Vortex, Michael describes his spiritual 'biography' better than words on this page can do. Over to Michael...
A Mother's Labor, April 1st, 2014 (starts at 0:40min) Catholic Church's endorsement of Michael's work By 2007 Archbishop (now Cardinal) Raymond Burke from St. Louis was endorsing Michael's work. Michael received a Sacred Theology Baccalaureate STB in 2009 from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas Angelicum in Rome. He graduated Cum Laude. In 2011 he was inducted into the Knighthood of the Royal Order of St. Michael of the Wing Royal House of Portugal. Church Militant TV In 2012 Michael ended the partnership with RealCatholicTV and launched ChurchMilitantTV, the chosen name (a name applied to the early Church) better reflecting their mission. Church Militant is the proper (though little used today) name for the Church on earth i.e. Church Suffering - those in Purgatory ... Church Triumphant - those in Heaven. As senior executive producer Michael today leads a dedicated team who create an ever-expanding range of faith-based programmes from their Detroit studios. Hundreds of hours viewing are available on the internet, and free account subscribers are emailed as soon as programme episodes, including The Vortex and Mic'd Up, go online. The tremendous work is made possible through the financial support of premium channel subscribers. For a small subscription these supporters have immediate and exclusive access to premium channel programmes, as well as hundreds more hours of archived programmes and episodes. Currently Michael has produced over twenty-five different programmes, including four new ones so far in 2014. In The Vortex episode below, Michael stresses the need for Catholics to be deeply knowledgable about their faith, and he introduces a sampling of preminum channel programmes.....
